When’s the last time you’ve had a plumber come to your house? On average, it’s about 7 years per home. We will gladly perform a complimentary home inspection for you with any additional work you have us perform. On average, it takes about 10-15 minutes for a visual inspection of the home. Here is a list of what we perform during a home inspection.
- Dye test toilets to check for water leaks from the tank into the bowl.
- Visually inspect water heater, try to find age on Manufacturer Cover Plate, inspect for any safety violations.
- Attempt to locate the home Water Shut Off Valve and Sewer Access Cleanout. Every homeowner should know how to turn the water off in case of an emergency and show the plumber where to run his Cable Machine in case their home sewer gets backed up….
SEWER AND DRAIN CLEANING
By The Book Plumbing is handled to tackle your tough clogs and stoppages both inside and outside the home. During the summer months, we get many calls to come unclog an A/C line that drains to the bathroom sink. The homeowner is usually perplexed as to why their bathroom sink is filling up with water by itself, even if the water is turned off!
Sewer stoppages can show up at any time throughout the year however. Causes can range from a toddler flushing toys down the toilet, roots infesting the sewer line by the home’s cleanout, or even a mass of “Flushable” baby or sanitary products that’s obstructing the drains under the home. Usually after running a cable down the outside sewer cleanout by the side of the home, we try to run a camera down the line to verify that the line is in good shape…
TOILET REPAIR & REPLACEMENT
By The Book Plumbing stocks a wide variety of repair parts in order to service most toilet brands. After any servicing any toilet in your home, we perform a dye test in the tank to verify that our work has solved any leaks coming from your toilet.
Thinking about replacing your toilet? Most homebuilders put in a cheap standard height toilet that becomes more uncomfortable as we age, or in the case for those of us who are taller, were never comfortable to begin with. Switching to an ADA toilet will raise the height, making it more comfortable to both sit on and raise up from. Our company installs both Western Pottery and Kohler brand toilets….

WATER LEAKS / HOME REPIPE
Are the water pipes in your home made of Galvanized Piping? Galvanized and Copper were the most popular materials to plumb a house with back in the 70’s and 80’s. Both were a decent choice at the time, but as the years have passed and many Water Municipalities have switched to treating their water with Chloramine, many of the homes with Galvanized Pipes are now experiencing leaks. Many times, you are not just repairing the leak, but also the sheetrock, wood flooring, and carpet that the leak may affect on its way down as well.
A full solution to this issue is to replace all the Galvanized Water Piping with a better material. Our experience has shown “Uponor” PEX to be the best material to repipe a house with currently. Uponor also is willing to back their product up to 25 years*, which shows a very strong belief in their product…
WATER SOFTENING AND FILTRATION
Are you not satisfied with the quality of the water in your home? Do you notice large white scaled deposits that form on your shower head, lavatory faucet spouts, and leaching into your granite? Or maybe, you notice that your water heater makes loud popping sounds when someone turns on the dishwasher or runs a bath. These are symptoms of living in an area that is served with hard water quality.
A good solution to prevent these issues from forming is to invest in a Water Softener for your home. A Water Softener will condition the incoming hard water and soften it to make your plumbing system…
Professional, timely, and excellent communication! My shower drain was clogging up frequently. James came out and was able to find the problem....nails! Apparently the builders allowed nails to go down the drain and did not take them out. He was able to remove them all and my drain has worked perfectly since. Will definitely use again!
James did a great job in diagnosing and fixing my garbage disposal. A definite A+ in reliability and honesty! I would definitely recommend his services.
Had the opportunity for James to work in my home on a couple of projects. I was upgrading my bathroom when the tile installer was unable to install the toilet. James came in and not only installed one but suggested I get a taller one with a more efficient water consumption. My shower head was old and stained he brought in a new shower head that is beautiful and completed my new look. He was quick courteous and professional. I can enjoy my bath area and can say to James, job well done!
Awesome guy and great service! He got us fixed under budget and on a Saturday. He was on time, knowledgeable, and professional. We definitely will use him in the future. If any one needs a great plumber give James a call.
